Hi, I felt I had the right to respond to these.

For the first commenter:
1. If you think I’m fake, that’s fine. You’re entitled to your own opinion about me. If you don’t like me, that’s fine too. There will always be people out there in the world that like me and don’t like me. I’m cool with that. That truly is too bad that you feel I’m a cold hearted person that only cares about people if they’re popular. That’s a pretty horrible assumption about me, but hey, it’s how you feel so, I guess I can’t change that.

2. Yes, I know I’m more well known now because of Dan and even you would be too if you were friends with him. If you were friends with a popular person on dA, your popularity will obviously increase. If you became friends with Will Smith, your popularity in your school or work place would obviously increase. It’s pretty obvious that would happen. It’s up to users to decide whether or not they want to watch me and support my art or not- and all of them have the right to unwatch me whenever they’d like for their own personal reasons.

3. You can still keep thinking I’m a suck up, no big deal, but I want you to know, that I personally feel that I’m not a suck up. My comments on deviations are meant for that artist to see, usually they’re my friends- and I don’t expect you to know anything about our friendships. For the artists that I admire and really look up to on dA for artistic inspiration, I comment on their arts in a professional manner because I’m more nervous around them. I comment, fav, and keep browsing. I don’t suck up.

4. If I wanted page views, I can pay for them on deviantART. I could also post nude pictures of myself for more attention. I could draw more fan arts. I could be a troll and grab more attention that way. You know what? I’ll check my page views right now. I had about 314 page views yesterday and so far today 450 page views. HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THE HUGE INCREASE! I’m being incredibly sarcastic of course. I do not need a blog like Artist Confession to help me with “page views”. I could just host a kiriban if I wanted to boost my page views for the day. I decided to submit that post because I felt strongly about it because it has now closely effected me.

I seriously don’t think this adds more flame to the fire. If you feel that way, I’m sorry you’re so negative about that post.

For the second commenter:
I’m not fake and it truly does offend me a bit that you feel this way. However, as I said to the other person, it’s your own opinion of me and you’re definitely entitled to your own opinion.

I bitch when I’m mad on my real live streams, I’m quiet when I’m sad or stressed on my livestreams, and I’m a crazy mofo when I’m hyper on them. My livestreams are public and anyone can come chat with me. I’m as real as real gets on my livestream. I sometimes talk about my personal life and open my LSs for questioning. You can see my facial expressions from questions and comments like you’re talking to me in real life. If you want to see the “real” me, I’d just suggest you drop by one of these showings.

Of course I don’t talk to everyone the way I talk to my closest friends, it would be awkward. I type like this when it comes to people I don’t know, especially anons- and I type like this: OMFG DID CHU SEE THAT YT VIDEO??? GIOWJEIGWE I LOVE IT *A* if you’re close to me or if I talk to you more often.

There’s only one person at the top of my head that sometimes I avoid talking to and it’s because when they try to be my friend, they try to joke around, but they say extremely hurtful things. I tell them I don’t like it but it’s repeated, even in my livestreams. They know I’ve blocked them for this reason, but we still comment to each other. They’re a troll and they even joke about being one. These are cases in which I put up a wall.

I know this may sound cruel, but I never said it’s easy to become friends with me, but— it is easy to talk to me. I am always invisible on msn and I like for that to be respected, but even last night, one of my watchers even messaged me saying she needed someone to really talk to because things were going bad for her- I became visible to her and talked to her until I had to go to bed. She just felt better she had someone to talk to her and listen to her. It’s easy to talk to me as I said. Sometimes I can’t relate, but I’m a good person to converse with as I feel I’m pretty open minded about most things.

It’s not easy whatsoever to become a true friend of mine.

I could talk to you several times a week and I may not consider you a true friend.

Many people ask to become friends with me.
That’s not how friendship works.
Forming a friendship on the internet requires more than just talking on the web every day and joking about things. That’s at least how I feel about it.

My true friends know my weakest points in life. The times where I’ve considered dropping dead, they know who I’m closest to in my life off the internet, they know what type of problems I have in my personal life, they know what I hold dearest, they know what I’m scared of, and they talk to me on the phone and other means besides just deviantART, tumblr, and msn.

Those are my real friends.

I’m really sorry to have to say this because it may seem really mean, but if you’re a watcher of mine that’s great and makes me feel happy that you support my art— however, this doesn’t mean that I watch you for your arts or anything in general. Perhaps that’s why you feel like it’s one sided.

I don’t even keep track of all the people I watch, mostly just my close friends. This kind of ties to the first commenter. Most of my friends happen to be “popular” yes. You know what makes them popular? Their watchers and people like you — the ones who talk about them and spread their “fame”.

Currently I watch about 800 people and I have about 7000 watchers.
I do not follow all the people I watch closely. I do not expect even 25% of my watchers to be “active” (posting often on my art work, visiting my page and so forth). My watchers that are active know what I’m really like. Many of them even note me asking for feedback on their art work. Of course I respond when I have time - but that’s also why I go out of my way to create groups for the community.

I’m not made to do this stuff- but I take it very seriously. For my group Anime-Turf the admin team even has a google calendar set up to set critique nights and other events for improving art work. I pop in once in a while on these events, I accept notes from others asking for some valuable feedback, I comment on the art work if it’s declined and if I voted in my groups.

This whole response back to you probably seems cold, but it’s just being truthful because I’m trying to help you open your eyes and also understand a bit. I do not mean to be disrespectful but I just want to use examples so you kind of understand.

Let’s do a fun example. I’m a fan of Jackie Chan’s. He has no idea that I exist. Not even one clue. Do I support him? Hell yes I do. I think he’s great and inspirational with all his accomplishments.

I’ve supported him since I was young and wrote a few reports on him in school.

If he was in a room with me, he probably wouldn’t even talk to me first because we’re not friends or even acquaintances. If I spoke to him first, he’d probably acknowledge me and talk back and we could even have a good conversation (if there weren’t many fans in the room of course, ha). If I interested him enough with my personality or my networking capabilities, maybe we’d switch contact information (let’s pretend he’s not a huge ass star for that last sentence though).

This is kind of the same way with deviantART and how I personally use it to “watch” people. I follow some people just because they are admins or community volunteers on dA. I follow some just because they’re hilarious people and like the same things I do. I follow some because they talk to me a lot and I want to get to know them better just as a person. I follow some because they’re my friends in real life or we communicate effectively with each other. I follow some because their art is amazing or I definitely can see them improving drastically in the future. I follow some because I’m interested in the work they do because it’s not anime/manga related. There’s also those that have the mixture of things I just listed.

This is getting a bit side tracked of course, but I really wanted to talk to you about your comment, however you submitted as anon so I wasn’t able to respond to you privately.

I truly do appreciate your support. I do. I’m really happy you like my art work- but it’s hard to thank all my followers/watchers individually. I try to comment back to comments on my profile page and pictures - and on most deviations I’m able to do so. I’m sure you could see this especially on my profile page. There are some artists that hardly interact at all with their watchers and I’m happy to do so. I show my watchers I care and value them by making sound clips and having them listen to them. I have even made videos in the past where I thank them. I have given out free drawings and help promote their contests and events. At least one every couple of months, I send out a poll or a journal thanking them and showing I really, really appreciate them. When I have the time, I truly have gone to my watchers’ (random ones) pages amd thanked them for their support. Without my watchers like you, I would have never gotten all the feedback and motivation I have these past three years. I apologize that I can’t single you out the correct way — but..
